Introduction to Islamic Astronomy

Assalamualaikum,

My Name is Raihana. I'm doing my PhD in Islamic Astronomy. Do you know what is it about?
Let me introduce to you. Before I start to introduce about Islamic Astronomy, I want to ask you some questions:

1- When you perform a solah (prayer) , how do you know your direction of qiblah is correctly?
2- As a Muslim we must perform a solah (prayer) on 5 times daily, so how do you know prayer times are accurate in your place?
3- As a Muslim, we also must fasting on Ramadhan Month, Celebrate Eidul Fitri and perform al-Hajj (Pilgrimage), so how do you know when all this months will start?

     So all these questions answered by Islamic Astronomy. It is because all these obligation need astronomical methods to determine it. So, on next article, I will share how to determine prayer times, direction of qiblah and how astronomer create parameter or criteria for observing hilal (cresent moon) for fasting and celebrate eid.
